Big law firms move up training contract application deadlines
Some leading firms have moved their deadlines forward for completing applications for available training contract positions. The changes come after the graduate recruitment code that many firms voluntarily adhere to was revised last March. Those changes were instigated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority's decision at the time to withdraw from the previously standing code. The remaining signatories revised the code in the wake of that decision.comments powered by Disqus
The traditional deadline for applications was set to 31 July, and most firms used that as their deadline. Now a few have moved those deadlines forward.
Ashurst has made the most drastic change, moving its deadline to 1 November of this year. Meanwhile, Allen & Overy has moved its deadline up to 31 December of this year. Herbert Smith Freehills and Jones Day placed their deadlines early in the year, on 8 January and 15 January, respectively. Taylor Wessing has moved their deadline to 30 April.
The majority of law firms continue to use the traditional 31 July deadline for their 2018 training contract applications.
