Clyde & Co expands South Africa offering with hires
Clyde & Co is broadening its offering in South Africa through the hire of five partners for its Johannesburg and Cape Town offices. Two of the hires come from Norton Rose Fulbright.
The firm first launched in South Africa in May 2014. At the time of the launch, the firm established insurance and marine disputes as its main focus. Now, the firm will see its offering include construction and commercial disputes.
Four partners – Tony Hardie, Amelia Costa, Robert Scott and Alon Meyerov – join the firm's Johannesburg office. Partner Athol Gordon joins the Cape Town office. Costa and Hardie hail from Norton Rose. Costa is an insurance specialist who handles disputes, defense, and regulatory and compliance matters. Hardie was head of insurance for his former firm and specialised in disputes, regulatory and investigation issues.
Meyerov and Scott join Clydes from ENSafrica. Meyerov's practice is based in litigation, arbitration and disputes resolution in the construction and engineering sector. Scott deals with arbitration and mediation on large-scale construction and infrastructure projects.
Gordon meanwhile handles medical malpractice claims in addition to commercial litigation for international oil and gas companies.
