New hires at Gibson Dunn, Bakers, Altice and Withers

Baker & McKenzie has hired two laterals into its US tax practice, as part of the firm’s continuing North American expansion. Tax partner David Berek comes to the firm’s Chicago office from Horwood, Marcus & Berk, while Jennifer Mohar will re-join Bakers as a partner in the Washington DC office after a stint at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan. Gibson Dunn has hired John Pollack in the firm’s New York office. Pollack was previously with Schulte Roth & Zabel, and was former co-chair of the firm’s M&A and securities practice. Other recent hiring activity in New York includes David Connolly, who has been hired as executive vice president and GC of telecoms and media firm Altice. Meanwhile in Hong Kong, Withers has hired David Mallinson as a corporate partner to boost its hotels and hospitality practice. Mallinson was previously with Mayer Brown JSM.
