CMA outlines timing for legal services price transparency measures

Following a review of the legal services industry, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has published a report outlining recommendations to improve the current regulatory structure. One key finding concerns disclosure of pricing information, which is currently published online by just 17% of firms. The CMA recommends that firms make more of an effort to increase pricing transparency. The CMA established a recommended timeline for implementing changes, calling for regulators to set up a joint programme board by 31 January 2017, receive regulator responses by 30 June, and begin making changes to increase transparency by 30 September.
