Macfarlanes takes on KWM competition trio in lateral hire

Macfarlanes has hired a trio of partners from the competition practice at King & Wood Mallesons (KWM). The lateral hires include partners Cameron Firth, Christoph Humpe and Tom Usher, as well as former Europe senior partner Stephen Kon, who will join Macfarlanes as a consultant. Usher initially joined legacy SJ Berwin in 1989, and eventually became head of the firm’s dispute resolution and regulation division. Kon stepped down from his post as senior partner earlier this year, and resigned from the firm earlier this week. An increasing number of partners are leaving KWM for new opportunities, as the firm’s China arm is in talks to purchase some of the firm’s European offices.
