Hong Kong approves third party arbitration funding

Hong Kong’s legislative council has passed a bill that allows third party funders to participate in arbitration cases. The approval was announced on 14 June and is expected to take effect in late 2017. The bill will help Hong Kong to maintain its status as a top location for arbitration. As Singapore already allows third party arbitration funding, Hong Kong’s new bill will bolster the region as a competitive center in the international arbitration market.
