Society of Indian Law Firms expects imminent legal market liberalisation

According to a message from Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) president Lalit Bhasin, the country’s legal market is expected to open up to foreign firms. The message was sent last week from Bhasin to the Society’s approximately 100 law firm members. The country’s legal services market is expected to allow foreign firms within the next year. In a speech delivered on 8 July at the International Law Association’s All India Seminar, chief justice J.S. Khehar said that he supported changes that would allow foreign lawyers into the market.
