Burford Capital reports 130% income growth

Burford Capital, which began as an £80m startup, has posted growth of 130%, a record for the litigation and arbitration funding company. Since June 2016, income rose 130% to $175.5m, with investment income increasing by 148% to $161.6m. The company, which is led by chief executive Chris Bogart, is set up as an alternative business structure in the legal field. Bogart credits the company’s growth to the growing field of litigation funding, while chair Sir Peter Middleton pointed out the company’s commitment to new investments in 2017.
