HSF names May Tai new Greater China managing partner
Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has announced that arbitration partner May Tai will take on a position as managing partner of the firm’s Greater China practice, succeeding current managing partner Julian Copeman. Tai, who is based in the firm’s Hong Kong practice, will start in the new role as of October 1, and Copeman will move back to the UK. HSF’s Greater China practice includes offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, with a total of 300 personnel. According to Asia and Australia managing partner Justin D’Agostino, the firm’s Greater China business is growing rapidly. Tom Chau and Nanda Lau, the firm’s respective Beijing and Shanghai heads, will work with Tai to lead the region.
