Dresdner Kleinwort Wins Race-Discrimination Case Against Banker
Allianz SE's Dresdner Kleinwort won a race-discrimination case filed by a former investment banker who sought 10 million pounds ($21 million) over claims he was fired because he couldn't speak German. An employment tribunal in London ruled in favor of Dresdner, the bank said in a statement today. Malcolm Perry, former global head of fixed income and credit at the London-based bank, told the tribunal that he lost his job in a power struggle between London and Frankfurt managers. Dresdner said Perry's job was phased out in a business restructuring and argued that while Perry was wrongly dismissed because of a technicality, it wasn't connected to his race or language skills.
