2017 financials: Sidley sees growth in revenue and partner count
Sidley Austin’s City office had a strong showing in its 2017 financial reports, after a year of big name hires.
The US firm’s London revenue rose by 14% to £85.7m. Speaking with Legal Business, the branch’s managing partner Matthew Dening cited “broad demand” for the firm’s services and “incredibly busy” teams as factors in the firm’s year of growth.
The firm’s recent hires, which brought the London headcount up 5% to 141, also seemed to boost its success. Such recruits as restructuring partner Yen Sum from Linklaters, M&A partner James Wood from Ashurst, and private equity duo Till Lefranc and Wim De Vlieger from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett aided greatly in making it a satisfying year for Sidley Austin.
