Travers Smith coins term in new sensitivity campaign
Travers Smith has created a campaign designed to empower its staff to call out inappropriate language in the workplace.
The hashtag-branded campaign, titled “#ThatsNotCool” is meant to provide structured language for confronting colleagues who make others uncomfortable with their words.
As of yet the campaign’s exposure in the firm has been limited to inclusive language seminars led by CSR and diversity director Chris Edwards and partner Siân Keall, though an expansion of the campaign is slated to come soon.
Managing partner David Patient told The Lawyer that the idea is as simple as it sounds, with the titular phrase being designed to not to “blame or ridicule” but rather to immediately defuse a situation.
