Clifford Chance taps Japanese firm for Tokyo litigation chief
Clifford Chance has hired Peter Coney to lead its litigation and dispute resolution in Tokyo.
Coney began as a solicitor in Australia in 1999, before holding positions at Linklaters and Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF). After 11 years at HSF he took positions at Jamieson Legal in Sydney and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu in Tokyo.
Clifford Chance began its practice in Tokyo in 1987, agreeing to a joint venture with Tanaka & Akita in 2001, and scaling back in 2011 by letting K&L Gates recruit a 10-lawyer team from the branch.
