Exeter Univ. disciplines law students after exposed racism

March 22, 2018 Exeter University has opened an investigation into racism allegations involving the university’s student law society.

Racist comments by members of a WhatsApp group titled “Dodgy Blokes Soc” were made public by student Arsalan Motavali, who called the group’s comments “disgusting.” Many of the group’s members are also involved in Exeter’s Bracton Law Society (BLS).

In response, the university has suspended the students and begun an investigation, BLS has banned the students from continued membership in the society, and law firm Hill Dickinson has rescinded an offer of a training contract previously made to one of the students involved.
