New HSF litigation head sets lofty goal for New York branch
Herbert Smith Freehills has made the uncommon commitment to double the headcount of its New York office before its 10-year anniversary in 2022.
The firm opened its New York office in 2012 with just six partners and 14 lawyers. The firm’s soon-to-take-office UK/US head of litigation Damien Byrne Hill announced that his goal is to bring the total number of workers at the firm to 80-100 in the next three to five years.
Hill will be taking over the role from outgoing Mark Shillito, who resigned in order to run again James Palmer in the recently completed senior partner elections. Palmer ultimately earned his second term, however, leaving Shillito to assume to the role of global head of IP.
