Linklaters hires Goldman Sachs managing partner in HK
Linklaters has recruited Goldman Sachs’ Hong Kong managing director Andrew Chung as a partner at its Hong Kong firm.
Chung’s expertise at Goldman Sachs is in handling disputes and regulatory matters throughout the Asia Pacific region. He will join Linklaters in August as a disputes partner.
According to Linklaters global head of dispute resolution Michael Bennett, Chung’s 18 years of experience have given him a reputation in Hong Kong as a “commercially talented and deeply knowledgeable practitioner” when it comes to Asian disputes, among other matters.
Magic circle firms have been slow to hire partners from the Asian financial market this year, opting instead for lateral hires from fellow magic circle firms. Such lateral hires include Ashurst’s hire of a corporate partner from Slaughter and May in March and Kirkland & Ellis’ hire of a consultant from Clifford Chance (who joined the firm as a white collar partner) in February.
