DLA follows trend with Dublin launch announcement
DLA Piper has made the official announcement of its Dublin launch, confirming expectations that have been circulating as other firms also set up offices in the city in preparation for Brexit.
The first partner hired to open the branch is William Fry corporate partner David Carthy. Carthy held several leadership roles at William Fry, serving as the head of the foreign direct investment group, life sciences team, and healthcare team. He joined the firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 1999, making partner in 2006.
Ahead of Brexit, Dublin is on the rise; earlier this month, Simmons & Simmons opened its new Dublin branch. Covington & Burling and Lewis Silkin have both announced plans for Dublin offices. Pinsent Masons was ahead of the curve, having hired three Walkers partners a year ago for its launch.
