Clifford Chance seeks first global diversity head

May 24, 2018 Following the revelation of its 66 percent pay gap in male and female partners from earlier this spring, Clifford Chance is on the hunt for a global head of inclusion and diversity, the first for the firm.

Without a specific target base, the firm is exploring options in any of its 32 offices around the world. The role will require innovation to create and implement a not yet established inclusion and diversity strategy.

The magic circle firm not only aims to improve its gender pay gap, but its ethnic diversity as well. In its London offices, a 2016 report showed only 5.2 percent of lawyers with an ethnic minority background. That number is nearly double its 2012 2.9 percent London statistic, but under its New York and Washington DC offices, which show 6.6 percent of partners being of an ethnic minority.
