BCLP sells flexi-lawyer service to private equity house
Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) has chosen to sell off its majority investment in Lawyers On Demand (LOD), the flexible lawyering service that had carried over from legacy Berwin Leighton Paisner.
According to LOD chief executive officer Tom Hartley and the service’s co-founder and managing director Simon Harper, the sale is hoped to give a boost to the service’s global expansion.
The buyer is private equity house Bowmark Capital, which has taken over the stake effective immediately. Through the deal, BCLP and LOD shareholders were advised by Macfarlanes partner Jessica Adam, LOD management was advised by Baker McKenzie partner Alex Lewis, and Bowmark Capital was represented by Stephenson Harwood partner Jonathan Pittal.
