W&C powers its Chicago launch with heavy-hitting lateral hires
White & Case has launched its new Chicago office, led by the firm’s US head of disputes Jason Zakia.
To support the launch the US juggernaut also made two lateral hires: private equity partner Gary Silverman and white collar partner Carolyn Gurland.
Silverman joins the firm from Greenberg Traurig after seven years at its Chicago branch. Prior to Greenberg Traurig, he also worked at Kirkland & Ellis for close to two decades. With a wealth of corporate experience, he focuses on manufacturing, life sciences, and consumer products, among other sectors.
Gurland previous worked at White & Case as an associate in New York, but left to take up a position in the New York Country District Attorney’s Office. After spending four years as a sole practitioner, she rejoins White & Case as a partner.
