Ashurst cuts 54 City secretarial positions
Ashurst has halved its London secretarial staff by axing 54 of 100 jobs after a review putting 80 positions at risk of redundancy.
As 98% of the firm’s secretarial staff are female, women are suffering the brunt of the firings. Two secretarial staff members have also been made redundant in the Middle East.
Chief financial and operations officer Jan Gooze Zijl noted that the driving forces behind the move are “changing client needs” as well as new technology, a push for more market efficiency, and “embracing new ways of working.”
