Freshfields and CC up trainee pay in wage bump trend
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Clifford Chance have both upped their trainee salaries, with Clifford Chance also raising its pay for newly qualified lawyers (NQ).
Freshfields has raised the salary of its first year trainees from £43,000 to £45,000, a 6% increase. For second year trainees the same 6% increase raised the salary from £48,000 to £51,000.
As for Clifford Chance, the firm’s trainee pay is a step above Freshfields from the start and maintains that lead after the increase, with raises being made on the current £46,600 for first year trainees and £52,500 for second year trainees. The magic circle firm has also raised its pay to NQs from £87,300 to £91,000, with a binary bonus included.
