King & Spalding opens eight offices in 18 months

Between 2000 and 2006, King & Spalding more than doubled the number of lawyers in its New York and Houston offices, the American Lawyer reports. Beginning with Dubai in 2007, King & Spalding went on to add offices in Riyadh; Charlotte; Frankfurt; Silicon Valley; San Francisco; Austin; and Abu Dhabi. The moves are part of a strategy, unveiled last February, to focus on a handful of "initiatives"-practice areas that would be strengthened through lateral hiring and new offices.
