Star professor Dame Hazel Genn new Dean of UCL Laws

Professor Dame Hazel Genn has been appointed Dean of the UCL Faculty of Laws for a five-year term. Dame Hazel Genn is currently Professor of Socio-Legal Studies and co-director of the Centre for Empirical Legal Studies. She previously was Head of the Department of Law at Queen Mary, University of London. She formerly held research posts at the Oxford Centre for Socio-Legal Studies and the Cambridge Institute of Criminology. Dame Hazel Genn is a distinguished empirical legal researcher and expert in access to justice and dispute resolution. She has served on many public bodies, including the Committee on Standards in Public Life, and in 2006 was appointed an Inaugural Commissioner of the Judicial Appointments Commission.
