Chicago's Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott has been named as the top litigation boutique of the year by The American Lawyer, followed by Texas shop Gibbs & Bruns, Washington, D.C., appellate powerhouse Robbins, Russell, Englert, Orseck, Untereiner & Sauber, and trial lawyers Zuckerman Spaeder. Bartlit Beck was founded by 19 Kirkland & Ellis defectors in 1992. The firm now has 69 lawyers. The firm's model: "No hourly fees, no leverage, no laterals."
