Jones Day settles 'stupidest trademark lawsuit ever'

International law firm Jones Day sued blockshopper.com in 2008 after it posted articles about Jones Day attorneys Dan Malone Jr. and Jacob Tiedt who had recently bought condos. Why Jones Day wanted to stop blockshopper.com from linking to the law firm's website, is unclear. Jones Day claimed that blockshopper's use of the firm's name without permission constituted trademark infringement. The case was settled this week with an agreement that blockshopper can continue to link to Jones Day's site, but is obliged to use use the firm's website URL as the link.
