Orrick lays off 100 associates, 200 staff

March 4, 2009 Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP has announced that it is laying off 100 lawyers and 200 staff members.

The firm, which has more than 1,100 lawyers in 21 offices worldwide, said that the layoffs will affect offices in the United States, Asia and Europe. The firm did not break down layoff numbers by office.

Orrick's panaging partner Ralph Baxter told the Am Law Daily that associates at all levels are affected by the layoffs. The firm offers three months of severance pay, two months less than in the last layoff round in fall 2008.
