US federal judge asked to provide accounting in Marcos case
Lawyers for victims of human rights abuses of the former Philippine leader Ferdinand Marcos have asked an appeals court to order the presiding judge to give an accounting of US$ 5 million which was disbursed from a pool of seized funds. While no misconduct on the part of the presiding judge, U.S. District Judge Manuel L. Real, is alleged, the judge has been criticized by the controlling appeals court for providing insufficient reasoning in his decisions.
