New trial denied for Mumia Abu-Jamal at the US Supreme Court

Mumia Abu-Jamal, well-known for his controversial conviction of killing a police officer in the United States, has had an appeal effectively denied by the US Supreme Court, which refused to hear his claim that African Americans were excluded from his jury at trial. The Court did not, however, announce a decision on another related request by prosecutors to reinstate Abu-Jamal's death sentence.
