Retirement of US Supreme Court Justice opens up wide field

Speculation is rife in the USA about whom President Barack Obama might select to replace the retiring US Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter. Among the questions which are occupying analysts' minds are whether Obama will name a female candidate, and whether the candidate will have a more moderate or a more liberal approach to constitutional interpretation.
