K&L Gates loses legal-services contract with Microsoft

K&L Gates has lost its status as one of Microsoft's preferred legal providers. K&L Gates, which was the product of a merger between international law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart and Seattle-based Preston Gates & Ellis, was not among the ten law firms selected by Microsoft. The software company had solicited bids for its preferred-provider program in January. Microsoft was one of Preston Gates' most important clients and played a major role defending Microsoft during the U.S. antitrust case.
