Facebook loses lawsuit against German clone StudiVZ
Facebook’s legal challenge to shut down its German rival StudiVZ has failed after a Cologne court rejected the social networking site’s argument that StudiVZ copied dishonestly Facebook’s design. The court argued that Facebook was barely known in Germany when StudiVZ was launched in 2005. Despite the obvious similarities between the two sites, the court did not see any unfair competition according to German law. Facebook, which filed a similar lawsuit in California in July 2008, is considering to appeal the decision.
