Cadwalader offers paid sabbaticals to avoid layoffs

US firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft is offering paid sabbaticals, to avoid further layoffs. Associates at the 500-lawyer firm will have the option to take one-third of their salary plus medical benefits spread over the next year for an indefinite sabbatical.
