Paul Weiss wins lead role on Sumitomo-Citi deal
Paul Weiss, and Japanese law firms Mori Hamada & Matsumoto and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu are advising on one of the largest Japanese M&A deals in 2009, Sumitomo Trust and Banking Co's acquisition of Citigroup's stake in Nikko Asset Management (NAM). The Paul Weiss team is led by Tong Yu, Toby Myerson and Steven Williams, advised long-time client Citigroup on US law apsects of the deal, while for Japanese law advice the US banking giant turned to an Anderson Mori & Tomotsune team led by Hiroshi Mitoma. Mori Hamada & Matsumoto advised Sumitomo Trust Bank with a team led by partner Satoshi Nakamura.
