Slaughters and Freshfields lead on Unilever's Sarah Lee bid

Slaughter and May and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer have won key roles on Unilever's $1.9 billion offer for Sara Lee's global personal care and European detergent business; the largest acquisition the Anglo-Dutch company has made in almost a decade. Slaugher and May was advising longstanding client Unilever on the deal. Slaughter's team was led by corporate partner Gary Eaborn and included partners Michael Rowe, Charles Cameron, Cathy Connolly, and David Waterfield. Unilever's inhouse work was directed by European general counsel Rob Leek. Freshfields' Amsterdam and London partners Shawn der Kinderer, Hans Galavazi, Brechje Nollen,Jeff Roberts, Alex Potter, Dan Schaffer, Avril Martindale, Ursula Harriss and Emma Kendall were advising Sara Lee.
