Australian law firms cut 500 associates since June

Australian law firms laid off almost 500 senior associates and junior lawyers since June 2009 as companies are cutting costs. The number of partner appointments fell by by 50 percent to 58 new positions at 32 major law firms, the Australian Financial Review said.
