Thirty staff laid off at Dewey & LeBoeuf

March 10, 2010 While numbers of lawyers being laid off seems to have slowed down in recent months, some employees are still losing their jobs as firms adjust to the new economic environment. This is the unfortunate fate of 30 legal secretaries at Dewey & LeBoeuf, according to an internal memo circulated yesterday.

The memo explained that the changes were necessary to ensure that secretarial ratios appropriately reflect the requirements of current business levels, in light of a reduction in lawyer headcount.
