Lovells focuses pro bono efforts on social enterprise
Lovells has launched a pro bono unit that offers the business and financial expertise of top lawyers to not for profit organizations and the fair-trade sector. The launch represents a shift from the traditional focus upon the provision of pro bono litigation services. The new ‘social enterprise unit’ will be led by London-based partners Nicola Evans, Tom Whelan and Adrian Walker, together with Munich-based partner Matthias Koch and Paris-based partner Antoine Juaristi. One of the unit’s first projects gives help to a cooperative of Indian cotton farmers in a poverty stricken region by establishing commercial training and providing business advice and legal assistance.
