Chadbourne & Parke break bad news to 2009 associates

March 18, 2010 US firm Chadbourne & Parke is the latest to break the news to 2009 associates that there would be no job for them at the end of a series of deferrals. Eleven of the 2009 associates were informed that they would be deferred beyond the January 2010 start date, and have waited until now to be told that, despite improving economic conditions generally and at Chadbourne, the firm could not employ them.

The firm has paid each of the 11 the balance of his or her $73,000 deferral stipend.

The deferred associates are not the only ones suffering from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. According to Above the Law, associates from [Arent Fox
, Wildman Harrold, Katten Muchin Rosenman and Winstead have suffered the same fate.

A spokesperson at Chadbourne & Parke said the decision will not effect members of the 2009 class currently employed by the Firm, the incoming class of 2010 or the 2010 summer class.
