Walkers goes to Ireland

Walkers has announced a plan to open a Dublin office in coming months. The Cayman Islands firm has not yet appointed staff for the Dublin office, but is in advanced negotiations with a number of partners. The move comes as some surprise, after Walkers joined a number of other firms in criticising Maples and Calder when it opened an office in Ireland in 2006. The criticism stemmed from territorial concerns, as the offshore firm was seen to be stepping on the toes of onshore firms.
