Cleary and Davis lead $1.28 billion software deal
Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and Davis Polk & Wardwell have taken lead roles on software maker Symantec’s $1.28 billion cash acquisition of VeriSign’s internet security business.
VeriSign was advised by Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, with a team led by M&A partners Christopher Austin and Benet O'Reilly. The team also included IP partner Leonard Jacoby, tax partner Sheldon Alster, antitrust partner Jeremy Calsyn, and employee benefits partner Arthur Kohn.
Symantec was advised by Davis Polk & Wardwell, who put together a team that included corporate partners Alan Denenberg and Martin Wellington, tax partner Rachel Kleinberg, IP partner Steven Weiner, environmental counsel Betty Moy Huber, real estate counsel James O'Brien, and employee benefits counsel Cynthia Akard.
