Kirkland & Ellis attract top talent away from Ashurst

US Firm Kirkland & Ellis have hired two corporate partners from Ashurst. Gavin Gordon and David Arnold have been placed on leave and their start date at Kirkland is yet to be finalised. It has been reported that Gordon and Arnold were offered salaries of well over £1m to attract them to Kirkland & Ellis, and that Ashurst was not prepared to renegotiate their contracts. Ashurt’s corporate practice has suffered a number of losses this year, including long-term partner Andrew Edge on 3 March and private equity specialist Graeme Ward on 13 January.
