Sullivan & Cromwell and Weil Gotshal lead $1.36 bn cable deal

June 15, 2010 Sullivan & Cromwell and Weil, Gotshal & Manges have scored leading roles on the $1.36 billion acquisition of cable services provider Bresnan Communications by Cablevision Systems Corp. Bresnan, based in New York State, is the thirteenth largest multiple system cable operator in the US.

Cablevision called upon Sullivan & Cromwell – who regularly provide outside counsel to the company – to advise on the purchase. M&A partners Duncan McCurrach and John Mead led a team that also included debt partner Robert Downes, tax partner Ronald Creamer, and intellectual property partner Nader Mousavi.

Weil, Gotshal & Manges advised Bresner and majority owners Providence Equity on the transaction. The firm provided a team led by corporate partners Michael Weisser and Joseph Kuzneski and including finance partner Richard Ginsburg, tax partners Marc Silberberg and Stan Ramsay, and corporate associates Kyle Gann, Michael Cubell, Faraz Rana, Nadia Karkar, and Michael Breidenbach.
