Weil Gotshal & Manges lifts salary freeze in London
US firm Weil Gotshal & Manges lifted its salary freeze for London-based associates, lifting pay by four per cent. Newly qualified lawyers will now receive £90,000 while associates with one year’s post-qualification experience will earn between £90,000-95,950 and those with two years post-qualification experience will take home £93,600-£101,900. Those with six years post-qualification experience will now earn £156,950. While this will doubtless be welcome news for associates, who were told in 2009 that they would take a pay cut and would not move through the pay bands as normal, most salary bands remain lower than 2008 levels.
