Sullivan & Cromwell and Latham & Watkins lead one of the year's largest leveraged buyouts

July 16, 2010 Sullivan & Cromwell and Latham & Watkins had taken leading roles in the $3.8 billion cash purchase of vitamin manufacturer NBTY by private equity firm The Carlyle Group.

NBTY was advised by Sullivan & Cromwell, who provided a team led by M&A partner Audra Cohen and including corporate partner Neal McKnight. NBTY's general counsel - Irene Fisher - also advised on the deal.

The Carlyle Group was advised by Latham & Watkins, who has provided legal assistance to the private equity firm on multiple transactions in the past.
