Lawyer Pay: the $75k happiness plateau

Lawyers pursuing high pay should take note of a recent study showing that after household income reaches $75,000, more money does not mean greater happiness. Of course, people who choose a career based solely upon monetary reward may find that they don’t enjoy the work and that they are not very good at their job - which will become manifest in the size of their pay packet over the long term. The report shows that while more money does not significantly affect an individual’s daily mood, an income of greater than $75,000 does boost a person’s overall ‘life assessment’ - their sense of whether they are leading a good life.
