Japanese firm Atsumi & Partners takes on 8 new lawyers and a new name

Japanese firm Atsumi & Partners has recruited an eight-lawyer team from local rival TMI Associates, and is set for a name change with the addition of partner Yutaka Sakai to the letterhead. Sakai has more than 25 years experience in structured finance, general banking, and real estate finance transactions. “We remain positive about the financial markets and corporate activity and continue to expand across all our practice areas, both locally and internationally,” said the firm’s founding partner, Hiroo Atsumi. “The addition of Mr. Sakai and his team will put us in a strong position as the markets recover and the local, regional and international economies pick up.” The incoming team is comprised of Mr. Yutaka Sakai, Ms. Fumiko Soejima, Ms. Yasuko Tsuchihashi, Ms. Reiko Yoshida, Ms. Akiko Monden, Ms. Atsuko Kissho, Mr. Takaya Konishi and Mr. Yasuhiro Shimada.
