Clifford Chance appoints new practice head for India
UK firm Clifford Chance has announced that Geraint Hughes is to become the firm’s practice head for India, a market that is closed to foreign law firms. Hughes will continue to be based in Singapore as managing partner of the Singapore office. Senior Partner Stuart Popham said earlier this year that he expects that the prohibition on foreign lawyers practicing in India will be lifted by 2010. Hughes will succeed Chris Wyman in the role of India practice head, as Wyman retires after 30 years with the firm.
