Sidley Austin announces 25% increase in total bonuses paid
Sidley Austin has announced that the number of associates receiving an end-of-bonus has increased by nearly 20%, and the total sum awarded for bonuses has increased by more than 25% over 2009.
For many associates at Sidley Austin this was very good news, with some reporting the award of bonuses that were twice the size of those awarded by Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
But not all Sidley associates were quite this fortunate: some associates received smaller bonuses, and some received nothing at all. In Sidley’s non-lockstep system, larger bonuses are likely awarded to those who significantly exceeded their 2000-hour billings target, while most fee earners took home a bonus at the market (Cravath) rate.
