LeClairRyan hires 16 lawyers from Nixon Peabody

LeClairRyan is set to expand with an influx of talent from Nixon Peabody. The firm has hired 16 lawyers to support its strategic goals of opening an office in Rochester and expanding its IP practice in four other cities. The new recruits include Andrew Zappia, who will head the new Rochester office, and Michael Goldman, who will become a member of LeClairRyan's board. Partners Gunnar Leinberg, Richard "Rick" McGuirk, and Gregory Mascitti will also join the Rochester office. Edwin "Ted" Merkel, who had held the title of counsel at Nixon Peabody, will join the firm as a partner along with six former IP associates who will join their new firm as partners. These newly minted partners are Wendell Harris and Tate Tischner in Rochester, Shelley Jones in Washington DC, Jeffrey Townes in Alexandria, Va., Suvashis Bhattacharya in San Francisco, and Georgia Evans in Chicago.
